Iraq war veteran, family receive home in northwest Las Vegas

An Iraq war veteran and double amputee was welcomed into his tailor made-designed home Saturday in northwest Las Vegas.

Military Sgt. Adam Poppenhouse, his wife Megan, and their two rambunctious sons, A.J., 6, and Senna, 3, received a mortgage loan-cost-free home built by Homes For Our Troops, a national nonprofit that can help wounded veterans rebuild their lives.

Poppenhouse lost equally his legs just after an explosion in Iraq in December 2006.

“I definitely just want to say how grateful we are and how enjoyable it will be to raise these minor nut positions and have a position to construct a relatives,” Poppenhouse reported although his boys ran about the residence close to Craig and Cimarron roadways.

The Poppenhouse loved ones, who are originally from Ohio, were being welcomed to their new home by dozens of inhabitants and supporters lining their driveway for the celebration. Firetrucks, police vehicles and many area motorcycle golf equipment joined the Poppenhouses on Saturday early morning.

The 2,800-sq.-foot home has 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lot more than 40 variations, such as shorter counters, tubs and closets, to make sure Poppenhouse can care for himself and his boys independently.
