Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Past month the Marinette County Board of supervisors authorised contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette to the acquire of a new 24 ft search and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be capable to use the airboat. Having said that, at yesterday’s County Board conference a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Metropolis of Marinette for order of the Airboat. Because the City of Marinette has recently allocated $500 for each staff for COVID-19 vaccinations applying ARPA cash when they could have used their ARPA money in the direction of the funding of the airboat alternatively of asking the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre says, “the Metropolis of Marinette received $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller states, “there is a rationale why the metropolis is looking for participation in the buying of the airboat.”

Immediately after a prolonged discussion, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The envisioned delivery day of the airboat is mid-January.
